This book does have some valuable information and is priced reasonably. However, even this most recent edition is 3-4 years old (website says 2013, book says 2014). I am looking at a two page spread of six discount wedding gown websites and two of the links are dead; time to make a new edition and fix this. Also, the authors are big on the suggestion of "don't tell your vendor it's for a wedding and you'll get a better price" for photographers, caterers, etc etc. until after the contract is signed. My son was married last spring and vendors have caught on to this; each of his vendors specified large financial penalties in their contracts for anyone that did that. Maybe it's time to update that in the book as well. It's still a book worth buying, just be aware that some of the information is pretty dated.

I used this book when I was getting married and now I buy it for every one of my girlfriends when they get engaged! The best part of the book is the list of questions to ask each vendor, it makes you think about a lot of important details that wouldn't come to mind as a first time bride! Highly recommend even if you aren't on a strict budget!

The info is a little dated but good for a general info read if you don't have access to Google or friends for some reason.... I stopped reading after maybe 30-40 pages just because it was easier to plan a wedding using info from the internet and friends. :P Plus, when I shared some of the interesting advice in there, I got some mixed reactions from friends who have been married within the last five years. That being said, I did learn some useful things from the parts I did read, and the book had a great price.

I got this book about two weeks ago and it has been my bedtime reading as I start to plan! Already it has prepared me with questions to ask as I look at venues, it's helped me decide to make my own veil rather than buying one and overall it makes me feel secure in having a comprehensive picture of the wedding planning process. I highly doubt I will read it word-for-word but as I come up to new stages of the planning process I flip to that section and browse as needed. I highly recommend this book!

Terrific resource. A very helpful eye opener and a sensible guide through the minefield and the wretched excess that is the American wedding industry. I bought a copy for myself to help me plan my daughter's wedding, and since she lives elsewhere, bought her one too. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to understand how the wedding industry operates, and how to make the best, most cost-effective decisions for one's budget.Minor quibble - the sections on photography and reception music need updating.

I was feeling overwhelmed with wedding planning and all of the pressure of traditions and etiquette and formality. This book reinforced how I was feeling about the unnecessary rip offs in the wedding industry. Gave me lots of great ideas.

I am SO glad I bought this little treasure. I find myself re-visiting it again and again to make sure I'm planning and negotiating to the best of my ability. If you're thinking of buying Bridal Bargains, don't hesitate, just do it!! Unless you, your SO, or your parents are absolutely loaded and don't really care how much you spend, you'll really be doing your wallet a favor. Getting a great deal does NOT always equal sacrificing your sense of style! I consider it a much better use of my & my SO's finances to plan a wedding that LOOKS like we spared no expense while saving a significant chunk of change to put towards a house, honeymoon, or just our future in general. Buy the book!
