This is another wonderful book by the author. It is well laid out and supplements his other books. It is well written, easy to follow and is great addition to any diver's library regardless of experience.

I am an experienced sports diver and the book provided common sense advice and information about diving safely. Even the articles on technical diving, which I don't participate in, had a lot of relevant safety information. An enjoyable book to read which will improve your diving technique

I've read several books by Simon Pridmore. This book, like the others, makes technical and complex topics easier to consume and retain by mixing anecdotes and lessons-learned with clearly articulated processes, science, and common sense. He handles the topics in bits and pieces, keeping them interesting by mixing in stories from his many dives and diving associates. Even if I exclude the final 25% of the book, which deals with technical diving (not an area in which I've been trained), I would say I learned dozens new things. Most divers continue to learn throughout their lives. Some by experience, some by discussions with other divers, some with training. Simon's book provides guidance, cautionary tales, disasters narrowly averted, and some, tragically, that weren't. It gives instruction, but even more, it gives food for thought. I stopped counting, but I believe I took away at least 20 - 30 lessons that will make be a more thoughtful, prepared diver. New diver? Experienced? Advanced? I suspect all of you would benefit from this book.

I bought this book for my son, who is a scuba diver. He liked the author's take on the industry and enjoyed the book quite a bit.
